BLOGTOBER X BLOGR CHALLENGE 2021 WEEK 3 – THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN BUSINESS (BLOGTOBER – DAY TWENTY-ONE)

Social media is absolutely vital for any business in this day and age.

There are currently nearly 45 million Facebook users in the UK whilst over 30 million people use Instagram. These two platforms are a hive of activity and potential custom and that’s without taking into consideration the 15 million people who spend hours a day on Twitter and the ever growing popularity of TikTok (which is without a doubt one of the biggest social media success stories to date and allows the most chance of going viral from a single piece of content).

Visual content is essential in the hospitality and travel industry.

“Our media consumption habits are changing, today it is more likely that your audience will seek out photos and videos on social media before making a booking, in fact the social media presence and visual identify of a brand is often one of the final decision makers for consumers when proceeding with a booking.”

Roxii Hoare-Smith, The Importance of Social Media for Hotels as featured on daviestanner.com

I have a fierce passion for social media and content creating. Having started a beauty blog and Instagram page as a hobby in 2019 I have since built relationships with brands I could only ever have dreamed of working with previously. Whilst I understand that some of this is down to being in the right place at the right time I truly believe that the hard work I have put in to building my profile and personalising my content has paid off.

I appreciate that working within the hospitality industry or showcasing the unique qualities of a business are very different to the type of content I usually create but I am confident that the skills are transferable to some degree and that’s why I decided to write this post.

It’s completely out of my comfort zone but somethings that can be essential to your growth.

Your business might be in its infancy but it’s never too early to build your brand. Social media can help increase awareness of the products you sell or services you offer and has become an integral part of a modern day marketing strategy.

It’s also a chance to show off the personality behind the screen which is a great way of building relationships with your customers which will undoubtedly lead to the kind of loyalty you’ll need to succeed.

Take a chance on different kinds of content. Reels are huge right now and there are always fun trends read and waiting to be jumped on and tweaked to fit your niche.

Maybe you have a blog feature on your website that is gathering some cobwebs? Get out there and write a post that’ll captivate your audience and show em what you’ve got. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be ‘you’.

Isn’t that what social media really excels at? Showing the world who you truly are and what makes you special? It’s exactly the same when it comes to businesses and brands. Make it work for you.

You’ve got this!

PIXI BEAUTY +C VIT COLLECTION REVIEW (BLOGTOBER – DAY TWENTY)

Skincare is absolutely vital to me for two reasons.

The first being that as a beauty blogger I feel like having a good skincare regime really is the basis of an amazing makeup application. You can achieve incredible results with very affordable cosmetics when your skin is at its best and that comes down to knowing your skin, what to use and how to use it.

The second is very different but still equally important to me. I spent YEARS not even being able to leave the house to get milk without a full face of makeup. My confidence was on the floor and I didn’t know the meaning of self love. As I began to experiment with skincare I realised that I could look my most beautiful when fresh faced and happy.

Now my skincare collection has become just as important if not more so than my makeup collection and I love being able to discuss ingredients and different types of products. It gives me such a buzz to be able to pass on the tips and tricks that led to me feeling so content in my own skin.

The power of a good routine is so underrated and I truly believe it’s something we should know more about. Knowing that your skin changes from season to season and as you age could make such a huge difference to so many people.

Whilst I’m clearly not an expert I like to think I’ve picked up a few decent recommendations along the way. One of my favourite additions to date has to be the Pixi Beauty +C Vit Collection.

The collection includes…

+C Vit Priming Oil – £24

Infused with Vitamin-C, this tri-phase oil nourishes, energises and balances to prep and prime for a radiant glow.

+C Vit UnderEye Brightener – £16

This Vitamin-C infused under eye perfector blurs and energises to give an instant awakening effect. Refreshing treatment in a tube brightens and restores vibrancy.

+C Vit Brightening Perfector – £14

Vitamin-C infused complexion enhancer blurs and perfects to give skin a dewy radiant finish.

+C Vit Lip Brightener – £10

Inspired by nature, this Vitamin-C infused lip balm smooths with a hint of tint and shine.

If you’re after something that’ll leave you looking bright eyed and bushy tailed then this collection is the one.

I have three children so with that comes a lot of running around and when I’m not doing that I’m studying for a degree. I don’t sleep well and can never fully switch off. I need all the help I can get!

I love the fact you can wear alone for a really radiant, natural glow or under make up to really kick that ‘lit from within’ skin into gear.

Overall it’s just beautiful!

The Bridal Beauty Festival is also this month in London and I’m so happy to say I’ll be attending and documenting it all!

I picked up ‘The Honeymoon Edit’ which costs just £35 and is worth over a whopping £150!

Whilst of course being extremely good value for money ‘The Honeymoon Edit’ is also a great way to try new brands or test out some higher end products that you might have been wary of investing in initially.

I already know The Bridal Beauty Co have collated a handful of other themed collections (that I obviously have my eye on because I clearly have no self control) and I have high hopes for them after being so impressed this time round!

As I mentioned previously I’ll be at The Bridal Beauty Festival this coming Sunday (and the VIP tickets come with a goodie bag worth £150!) so I’m sure I’ll have lots more to say next week!

I HEART REVOLUTION X DISNEY BELLE COLLECTION REVIEW (BLOGTOBER – DAY EIGHTEEN)

Tale as old as time…

Mrs. Potts, Beauty and the Beast

Last week I featured the I Heart Revolution x Disney Princess Snow White Collection and what a love fest that was!

I actually purchased the Belle Collection last year when it was first released but this blog didn’t exist then so here we are.

This collections feels like it was pulled straight out of my heart, If I had a kindred spirit within the animated world then it’d be Belle.

I want adventure in the great wide somewhere! I want it more than I can tell!

Belle, Beauty and the Beast

The collection consists of…

I Heart Revolution Disney Fairytale Books Palette Belle – £15

I Heart Revolution Disney Fairytale Books Heart Highlighter Belle – £8

I Heart Revolution Disney Fairytale Books Lashes Belle – £8

I Heart Revolution Disney Fairytale Books Lip Topper Belle – £5

The face products included in the palette are arguably my favourite part with a selection of subtle blushes that really bring everything to life but the Belle Lip Topper is just something a bit special and would be perfect for adding a little bit of sparkle to your look this Christmas so I’m here for it.

Just as affordable as the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs collection with a similar line of products, it’s definitely worth picking them both up if you a collector!

Each aspect of the collection truly captures the essence of what the film meant to me as a child. It’s magical, elegant and full of bold choices. I can’t wait to collect more from the collaboration!

Take it with you so you’ll always have a way to look back… and remember me.

BLOGTOBER X BLOGR CHALLENGE 2021 WEEK 1 – A LETTER TO 2022 ME (BLOGTOBER – DAY FOURTEEN)

Dear Kelly of 2022,

This year you have so many amazing things in store and I can’t wait to see how it all pans out. I hope you’re as excited as I am!

2020 – 2021 was a time of reflection for us both and at times I honestly didn’t know if that was a good thing but at this moment in time I’m truly sure it was.

By now you’ll be deep into your uni course (only over a decade late but the best things come to those who wait) and hopefully enjoying it more than you ever imagined.

In nine months you’ll be marrying the love of your life and spending the day celebrating with the people you treasure most in the world (which lets face it, after the last couple of years is needed more than ever!).

Maybe you’ll have shifted that lockdown weight (doubt it, you’re quite happy in yourself right now and I bloody love that!) and maybe you haven’t but knowing that you’re content and healthy is my happy place.

I hope you’re still writing consistently just for you and not because you feel you have to. It’s helped to ground you so much and helps with all kinds of aspects of your day to day life.

You started the year off so well, reading often and feeling so inspired by other peoples words and that slowly tailed off into a nothingness. I was you to promise that 2022 will be the year you read and read and read. It’s one of the biggest passions of your life. Always make time for it.

Overall I just hope that you continue to grow, to push yourself and work hard to ensure your dreams come true. However, don’t forget to love your life for what it is in the time. There are always moments to cherish no matter how dark the day may seem.

Love always,

Kelly of 2021

REVOLUTION HAIRCARE BOND PLEX RANGE REVIEW (BLOGTOBER – DAY THIRTEEN)

Have you tried the Revolution Haircare Bond Plex range?

Formulated to target different layers of the hair fibre which will help restore and strengthen damage from the inside out.

The range includes…

Plex 3 Bond Restore Treatment £10

Plex 4 Bond Plex Shampoo £10

Plex 5 Bond Plex Conditioner £10

Plex 6 Bond Restore Styling Cream £10

Plex 7 Bond Restore Styling Spray £8

I usually struggle with leave in or styling products due to how oily my hair and scalp are. They weigh down my hair making it appear lank and flat but I’m so pleased to say I haven’t experienced any of that with the Bond Plex Range.

I like to use everything together maybe once a week and it really feels like a treat!

My hair is now bouncy, shiny and healthy. I’m so happy with the results and can’t recommend everything enough!

All the products are vegan & cruelty free.

And now I’ve got that straight from the salon feeling all the time.

WHAT’S THIS? THE MAKEUP REVOLUTION X DISNEY NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS COLLECTION REVIEW (BLOGTOBER – DAY TWELVE)

What’s this? What’s this?

Jack Skellington

If you’re a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas (and of course you are, who isn’t?) then you’ll know the time old debate surrounding the seasonal target of the film. Was it made for Halloween or Christmas?

Well director Henry Selick confirmed back in 2017 that it was intended to be a Halloween movie whilst Danny Elfman who beautifully set the tone of the film with his music said that whilst it’s clearly about Christmas he always considered it to be a Halloween film.

I’ll just carry on watching it from October until December every year just to be sure. That seems like the sensible thing to do, right?

That’s right. I am the Pumpkin King!

Jack Skellington

Anyway, last year Makeup Revolution absolutely smashed it out of the park when they realised a whole collection celebrating the cult classic and and so pleased to be able to say it’s still just as popular a year later!

The whole aesthetic is classic nightmare and I’m living for it. Striking the balance between childhood nostalgia and adult functionality perfectly.

My only regret is picking up only half of the collection but you know, adult stuff comes first apparently 🙄

Just because I cannot see it, doesn’t mean I can’t believe it!

Jack Skellington

I picked up…

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Eyeshadow Palette Jack – £15

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Highlighter Moonlight, Mischief & Madness – £8

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Lip Gloss Jack £5

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Lip Gloss Zero – £5

The highlighter is beyond stunning and such a wearable shade whilst the palette truly is a Jack of all trades with a nice mixture of neutrals and brights in various finishes.

I’m not much of a gloss fan if I’m honest but the packaging swung me if nothing else and they’re always handy to have.

I excel without ever even trying.

Jack Skellington

The rest of the collection consists of…

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Brush Set – £20

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Eyeshadow Palette Sally – £15

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Makeup Bag Clear – £8

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Makeup Bag Black – £8

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Highlighter Misfit Love – £8

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Lip Gloss Sally – £5

Makeup Revolution Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Lip Gloss Oogie Boogie – £5

My dearest friend, if you don’t mind, I’d like to join you by your side, where we can gaze into the stars.

Jack Skellington

Have you invested in the collection? Should I take the plunge and pick up the rest?
